” As We Grow Old ” is by Victoria Celestine, the American singer-songwriter. Raised in both France and San Antonio, Texas, Victoria’s music is a fusion of electro pop, country and jazz.
She learnt to play the pano at an early age and picked up a guitar as a teenager. Victoria has already had success as a performer at the Indie Music Channel Indoor Festival at the Mall Of America and a finalist at the Show Me The Music songwriting contest in 2011. Her talent has also led to her being nominated for the International Acoustic Music Awards.
Critics have given a positive response to Victoria’s work with Action Magazine saying ” The voice control and pitch rockets her way up there with the big girls. She can literally steal your breath away. ” Another critic, writing for The Line of Best Fit, a new music blog, said of Victoria ” …delicate, catchy phrases gracing lacquer-smooth electronic production… ”
The song was written by Victoria Celestine and released on the 25th of September 2015 by Victoria’s record label, Victoria Celestine Music. Production for the single was by Gordon Raphael. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Gordon is now based in Berlin. He is best known for his work with The Strokes, the American rock band from New York City. The band formed in 1998 and met Gordon whilst playing at the Luna Lounge in New York.
In an interview Victoria explained the meaning of the song ” ‘ As We Grow Old ‘ is about being seventeen and trying to figure out all the different expectations people had for me at the time. And feeling pinned down to havwith o try to be a certain image… But also living life and feeling the hope and happiness of becoming wiser and growing older. ”
The accompanying music video was directed by Raul Gonzo, who has worked with many artists including Cemetery Sun, The Material, Blood On The Dance Floor and SAINTE.
” As We Grow Old ” is featured on a three track EP which includes the songs ” Wasted Tears ” and ” Something More “.
