” Best Behaviour ” is by N-Dubz, who was a British hip-hop group. The group consisted of Dappy ( Costadinos Contostavlos ), Tulisa ( Tula Paulinea “Tulisa” Contostavlos ) and Fazer ( Richard Rawson ).
The members of the group were born in Camden Town, often called just Camden, named after Charles Pratt the first Earl Camden, it is a district of north-west London, England.
Their upbringing was hard. All three lived on tough estates and were exposed to gang culture. Throughout their teenage years, Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer witnessed to violence, depression, drug abuse, financial difficulty and bullying.
Their debut single, ” You Better Not Waste My Time “, released on the 19 of August 2006, reached number twenty-six on the UK Singles Chart. N-Dubz released their debut studio album, Uncle B, on the 17th of November 2008. It reached number eleven on the UK Albums Chart and was certified 2x Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ). It peaked at number thirty-six in Ireland.
During the time that the group was active, they released fifteen singles, three studio Albums, two extended plays, 27 music videos, five video album and one Compilation album. The trio has won four MOBO ( Music of Black Origin ) awards. The award show, established by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell in 1996, is held annually in the United Kingdom. The purpose is to recognise artists of any ethnicity or nationality that perform and promote black music.
” Best Behaviour ” was written by Costadinos Contostavlos ( Producer on this track ), Tula Contostavlos, Richard Rawson ( Producer on this track ) and Ben Hudson McIldowie, professionally known as Mr Hudson.
The British musician from Birmingham, England, first came to public attention in 2006 with Mr Hudson and the Library. He Established his studio in 2010 and had gone on to write for the likes of Paloma Faith, Alex Clare, Pixie Lott, Duran Duran and DJ Snake.
The song was released on the 17th of October 2010 by record label All Around the World ( Universal Music Group ) and was taken as the group’s the second single from the band’s third studio album, Love.Live.Life.
The album, released on the 29th of November 2010, was to be their last as N-Dubz. However, each member had other projects to focus their attention on. Although the album received mixed reviews from music critics, it reached number seven on the UK Albums Chart, seventeen on the Scottish Albums Chart and number thirty-three on the Irish Albums Chart.
Lyrically the R&B ballad is about Dappy’s feelings for Kaye Vassell, his girlfriend and mother of his two children. The lyrics also look into real love as opposed to one-night stands.
The accompanying music video was directed by Ben Peters, the British music and commercials director. He studied at Brunel University London, receiving a BA in Film & Television. Ben has worked with artists like Alexandra Burke, Skepta, Sabrina Washington, Jazzbit, Jz Dhami, and Ultrabeat.
The theme of the video was bling, with the budget for the shoot costing around £75,000. It features the members of N-Dubz performing at a villa located in Provence, France and on a yacht moored off St. Tropez, a famous tourist town on the French Riviera. Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer can also be seen disembarking from a private jet.
” Best Behaviour ” was a commercial success for N-Dubz. In the United Kingdom, the song entered the UK Singles Chart on the 30th of October 2010 and reached a peak of number ten. It spent one week in the top ten and a total of eleven weeks on the UK chart.
