Initially ” Better Off Alone ” was to be instrumental, when listening to the track DJ Sebastiaan Molijn started humming the vocal melody and came up with the title of the song just after the love of his life had left him.

” Better Off Alone ” also reached number three and spent twelve weeks on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart, Alice Deejay also did well on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart with a number twenty position and a stay of twenty weeks on the chart.
Outside of the United States the group had success with a number two on the Nielsen SoundScan Chart in Canada and took the song into the Top Ten in France, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and The Netherlands.
In the United Kingdom, ” Better Off Alone ” entered the UK Singles Chart and climbed to reach number two, the song spent seven weeks in the Top Ten and a total of twenty weeks on the chart.
