Blank Space Taylor Swift

” Blank Space ” by Taylor Swift, the American singer-songwriter. The song was written by Taylor, Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish songwriters and record producers.
The song was released by Republic Records in 2014 and taken as Taylor’s second single from her fifth album, 1989.
” Blank Space ” is written with an electropop feel and mixed with Taylor’s tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating humour after the exposure of her private love life.
The song is really about Taylor sending up her public image as a man-eater who uses her dates as her songwriting material. Such lines as ” Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream ” showed her ability to turn the tables and write a song that is not only catchy but cuts down those that mocked her publicly.
Critics loved not only the overall song but also the self-mocking lyrics, PopMatters wrote ” likely the best of Swift’s career and easily a candidate for the best pop song of 2014. ”
Another writer from Drowned in Sound wrote ” It’s the work of someone who finds success in misadventure, instead of wallowing in it. ”
The music video for ” Blank Space ” was directed by Joseph Kahn, who has worked with such big stars as Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga and George Michael.
The video was filmed in two locations over a period of three days. One was the beautiful Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York. The castle is the home to Otto Hermann Kahn and his family, with 127 rooms it is the second largest private home in the United States.
The other location used in the video was shot at the Woolworth Mansion, built in the Italian Renaissance style, this is said to be haunted by a ghostly woman heard crying and wandering the gardens. The mansion was also used for a music video to accompany R.Kelly’s ” Cookie “.
” Blank Space ” was a commercial success for Taylor. The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States at number eighteen.
On the song’s third week on the chart, it climbed to Number One, making it her third chart-topper and Taylor the first female artist to replace herself at the top.
The song remained at Number One for seven weeks, which made it her most extended stay there, a feat that beat her other Number Ones regarding time spent at the top of the chart.
In the United Kingdom, ” Blank Space ” first entered the UK Singles Chart at ninety-nine in November 2014, then re-entered at eleven and climbed to reach number four. The song stayed in the Top Ten for ten weeks and a total of thirty-two weeks on the UK chart.
