Description: ” Brother Louie ” is by Modern Talking, the German duo. The song was written and produced by Dieter Bohlen.
Taken as the first single from the third Album ” Ready for Romance ” which was released by the record labels BMG and Ariola in 1986.
Thomas Anders ( Bernd Weidung ) is the main vocalist on the song with Dieter Bohlen taking a slightly secondary role.
Towards the end of 1984 Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen formed Modern Talking, a hugely successful pop music duo.
Following the success of their debut single ” You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul ” they released several singles which all became chart hits.
Modern Talking released ” Brother Louie ” as a single in January 1986, this again was to become a successful song with strong chart positions throughout Europe.
The song peaked at number one in Germany where it spent four weeks at number one and a total of 17 weeks on the GfK Entertainment Chart.
In France the song entered the Syndicat national de l’├ędition phonographique ( SNEP ) chart reaching number 6 and spending 20 weeks there, a Silver disc was awarded to Modern Talking for sales of over 300,000.
In the United Kingdom, ” Brother Louie ” was released on the RCA record label, there the song entered the UK chart at number 37 and climbed to reach number 4, it spent three weeks in the top ten and a total of 10 weeks on the UK chart.
The song was awarded silver status by the British Recorded Music Industry ( BPI ) for sales in excess of 250,000.
Along with success in their native Germany and the rest of Europe, Modern Talking also had a successful run in Asia, South America and the Middle East.
Surprisingly the duo enjoyed a certain level of success in Iran, there playing of any kind of western pop music was banned after the Pahlavi dynasty, who supported the United States, was overthrown by Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and his supporters in 1979.
