” Dear Future Husband ” is by Meghan Trainor ( Meghan Elizabeth Trainor ), the American singer-songwriter. The song was written by Meghan and Kevin Kadish, with Kevin Kadish producing the single.
The song was released by the record label Epic Records and taken as the third single from her fourth 2015 album, Title.
The doo-wop style pop song deals with chivalry and marriage, in the song Meghan outlines what she requires for a romantic suitor.
Meghan got the inspiration for ” Dear Future Husband ” from a joke she had with her father, she’d say ” that her future husband is out there somewhere, ‘chilling’ .”
The music critics gave mixed reviews for the song, Entertainment Weekly’s Adam Markovitz called it ” irresistible” sock hop throwback. ”
Another critic, New York Magazine’s Lindsey Weber, commented that the song ” reads like ‘All About That Bass Pt. II. ”
However, not all critics had good things to say about the song, somewhere a little more scathing. Anna Silman of Salon thought the song was the worst of 2015 and criticised the message that a woman should bow down to a man and not be independent of thought.
Others claimed ” Dear Future Husband ” was sexist, even though it’s written by a woman and meant to be light-hearted.
Despite mixed reviews and equality opinions from music critics, it seemed the record buying public took to the song.
