Production for the track was done by both Peter Boström ( Bassflow ) and SeventyEight, the Swedish songwriting and record producer team.
” Euphoria ” is more widely known for being Sweden’s 2012 winning entry at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. Loreen won the competition comfortable with a total of 372 points, which was the second highest total points scored in the competition’s history.
Her song and performance pleased the judges with ” Euphoria ” receiving the highest amount of maximum twelve points.
Before the competition, OGAE members ( General Organisation of Eurovision Fans ) ranked the song very highly. Many other critics gave ” Euphoria ” good reviews with one saying the music and delivery transcended borders.
Along with positive reviews and Eurovision triumph, commercially the song was to be a success. In Loreen’s home country of Sweden the song entered the Swedish Singles Chart at number twelve, then it climbed to take the top spot and stayed there for six weeks.
With sales in the country of more than 360,000, the song was certified 9 x Platinum by Grammofonleverantörernas förening or Swedish Recording Industry Association ( GLF ).
Equally successful in Finland, the song entered the country’s charts ( Suomen Virallinen Lista ) at Number One, in Denmark, the song entered the charts at Number One where it spent one week.
” Euphoria ” also reached the Number One position in several other countries including Austria, Germany, Iceland, Greece and Switzerland.
In the United Kingdom, it entered the UK Singles Chart at number eighty-five and climbed to reach number three after a week. This song was to be the highest UK chart position for a non-UK Eurovision song since 1987 when ” Hold Me Now ” performed the feat for Johnny Logan.
In the first week of release, the song sold 62,148 copies and spent four weeks inside the Top Forty and a total of sixteen weeks on the country’s chart.
