Description: ” Felicità ” ( Italian for Happiness ) is by Al Bano and Romina Power, the successful musical duo. The duo performed together for nearly 30 years, their popularity was most evident in Italy, Austria, France, Spain, Romania and Germany.
In 1975 Al Bano and Romina Power released Atto I ( Act I ), their first Album. They represented Italy at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest, held in The Hague, Netherlands. Their entry, ” We’ll Live It All Again “, which was sung in Italian and English, finished seventh with 69 points.
Between 1967 and 1984 the couple made seven films based around their songs. Although Al Bano and Romina Power separated and divorced in 1999, they reunited in 2013 to continue performing and recording professionally.
Al Bano ( Albano Carrisi ) began his career in 1966. In 1968 Al won the Italian song contest, Disco per l’Estate, with the song ” Pensando a te “. As a solo artist he has recorded several majort hits including ” La siepe ” and ” Nel sole “, the latter sold over 600,000 copies in Italy within three months of the single’s release in 1967. The single went on to sell in excess of one Million copies, earning a Gold disc in 1968.
Romina Power ( Romina Francesca Power ) is an American born Italian singer and actress. Romina is the eldest daughter of Tyrone Power, the American screen idol and star of The Mark of Zorro, the American black-and-white swashbuckling adventure film released in 1940.
Romina began writing and composing her own songs after receiving a guitar for a gift on her birthday. From the age of 14, Romina appeared in several mainly Italian-language films.
” Felicità ” was written by Cristiano Minellono, Dario Farina and Gino De Stefani. Production for the single was by Dario Farina. It was released in 1982 by record label Baby ( Baby Records International ) and taken from the duo’s Album of the same name. The Album went on to be a huge success internationally and included their other big hit single ” Sharazan “.
There was some confusion caused in some of the territories where the Album was released. The Album was released under the name of Aria pura, the duo’s previous Album. In the Soviet Union, Al Bano and Romina Power was the title of the Album with the track listing missing ” Prima notte d’amore ” and ” Caro Gesù “. Al Bano and Romina Power also recorded and released Felicidad, a Spanish language version of the Album.
” Felicità ” was a commercial success for Al Bano and Romina Power. In Italy the song reached Number One on the singles Chart and went on to sell Millions of copies Worldwide between March and June 1982.
The song also charted in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands and Belgium. The song didn’t chart in the US or UK.
