” Freed from Desire ” is by Gala ( Gala Rizzatto ), the Italian pop singer and songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York. She was named after Salvador Dalí and Paul Eluard’s wife, Gala.

The Album, released in November 1997, produced four singles which all became hits for Gala. It was released under the Do It Yourself S.R.L. ( Do It Yourself Multimedia Group ) label.
The song took on a new lease of life when a Youtube user calling himself Kenno uploaded a video where he sings his modified version of ” Freed from Desire ”. The chant was about Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg.

He said in an interview with, the online music magazine ” We scrambled it together with Zak Abel for a laugh but once we realised that it could make money for such a good cause we were keen to help the charity to get it out there “.
The cover is in aid of the charity Joseph’s Goal, a foundation set up in honour of young Wigan fan Joseph Kendrick who is a Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia ( NKH ) sufferer.
