” Good Time ” is by Inna ( Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu ), the Romanian singer and songwriter. Inna was born on the 16th of October 1986 in Mangalia, a city and a port on the coast of the Black Sea.
In 2008 she adopted the stage name Alessandra and entered the songs ” Goodbye ” and ” Sorry ” to represent her country in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest being held in Belgrade, Serbia. Neither of her tracks was selected for entry.
Her stage name Inna was later chosen to replace Alessandra as it was the name her grandfather called her as a child, and she felt it would be easier for people to memorise. After the change of name, Inna changed musical styles, before she released pop-rock songs and now is recording more commercial Euro dance-pop infused music.
Her debut song, ” Hot “, released on the 12th of November 2008, topped the Romanian Top 100 Chart and reached number six on the UK Singles Chart.
By March 2016 Inna had sold four million copies of the first three studio albums she released. In 2015, Antena 3, the Romanian TV channel, reported that Inna was the country’s best-selling artist abroad.
” Good Time ” was written by Steve Mac ( who also produced this track ), Ina Wroldsen and Armando C. Perez ( Pitbull ).
Steve Mac is a British musician, songwriter and record producer. In 2013 he received the ASCAP ( The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ) Songwriter of The Year Award in recognition for his work which included co-writing ” Glad You Came “, a UK Singles Chart Number One and Billboard Hot 100 number three single by British-Irish boy band The Wanted. Steve has worked with many artists during his career including Demi Lovato, Shakira, One Direction, Westlife, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, The Saturdays, Rita Ora and James Blunt.
Ina Wroldsen is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her career in the music industry began as a recording artist but soon turned to writing for other singers. As a songwriter, she considered as a hitmaker and has become one of the most sought-after songwriters in the industry.
Ina has written for many of today’s biggest stars like The Saturdays, Shakira, Jess Glynne, Clean Bandit, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, James Arthur, Britney Spears, Tinie Tempah, Anne-Marie, Little Mix, The Pussycat Dolls, Shontelle, Demi Lovato, Leona Lewis and One Direction.
The song was released on the 15th of July 2014 by record label Atlantic ( Warner Music Group ) and taken as the second single from Inna’s fourth album, Inna. The album, released on the 30th of October 2015, was not a commercial success, reaching number forty-five on the Mexican Albums (AMPROFON) Chart.
A Japanese version of the album called Body and the Sun was released on the 23rd of July 2015 by record labels Roton and Empire Music. In Japan, it reached number 157 on the Oricon Chart, spending two weeks on the chart there. As of August 2015, Body and the Sun have sold just 760 copies, making it Inna’s lowest-selling album in the country.
” Good Time ” was the second time that rapper Pitbull has worked with Inna. The uptempo dance-pop song features Pitbull rapping ” An international sensation… Inna! Let’s have a good time! ” as an introduction to the track.
The song had mixed reviews from critics upon release. Some praised the composition and the chorus as ” addictive ” and ” bubbly “. However, others like Romania-Insider didn’t think much of the collaboration saying ” The song itself has not impressed us that much – the beat is typical Pitbull beat, Inna is the same: nicely dressed, dancing and singing. ” They did predict the song would be a hit.
The accompanying music video was directed by Barna Nemethi, the Bucharest based film director, writer and photographer. He also directed Inna’s single In Your Eyes, released on the 3rd of December 2013.
The video was filmed in February 2014 in Los Angeles, Miami and Bucharest. Scenes featuring Pitbull were shot separately in Miami, with the scenes Inna being filmed while she was on a promotional tour in Mexico City. As of the 3rd of October 2017, the video has been viewed 35 million times on Youtube.
” Good Time ” was not a commercial success for Inna, the song didn’t chart in either the United States or the United Kingdom. It did make the charts in Belgium, Romania and Russia.
