Lindsey, as a member of the band, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. As a musician is known for his fingerpicking ( unlike most guitarists who use a pick ) style of playing the guitar and in 2011 was ranked the 100th on the ” The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time ” list by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The song was written by Lindsey with production by Richard Dashut. Born in West Hollywood, California, the record producer started his career in the music business sweeping the floors of a recording studio. Richard has worked as a producer on many of Fleetwood Mac’s Albums including Rumours, Tusk, Live, Mirage, Tango In The Night and Time.

National Lampoon’s Vacation, also referred to as just Vacation, was a American road comedy released in 1983. The film was directed by Harold Ramis, as an actor he is best-known for starring as Egon Spengler in the 1984 film Ghostbusters and the 1989 film Ghostbusters II. As a director he has worked on many films which include the 1980 comedy Caddyshack and the 1993 film Groundhog Day, which starred Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.
National Lampoon’s Vacation starred Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid and Dana Barron. Also featured in the film are Anthony Michael Hall, John Candy, Imogene Coca, Christie Brinkley and Jane Krakowski.
It was a hit at the box-office. The film earned over $60 million in the United States with a budget estimated to be around $15 million. In a poll for the UK based magazine, Total Film, readers voted National Lampoon’s Vacation the 46th greatest comedy film of all time.
” Holiday Road ” was also used in the sequels National Lampoon’s European Vacation, Vegas Vacation and Vacation.
The song was a mild commercial success for Lindsey. In the United States the song peaked at number 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and spent a total of 5 weeks on the chart there.
