Co-writer Kent Blazy is an American country music songwriter. Along with Garth Brooks, Kent has written for Gary Morris, Diamond Rio, Patty Loveless and Chris Young. Kent co-wrote, along with Marv Green, ” My Best Days Are Ahead of Me ” by Danny Gokey, the American Idol season 8 finalist. The debut single by the singer peaked at number 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Ronan Keating’s cover version of ” If Tomorrow Never Comes ” was released on the 6th of May 2002 by record label Polydor ( Universal Music Group ) and taken as the first single from Ronan’s second Album Destination. The album debuted at Number One on the UK Albums Chart and was certified 2x Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ). In Ireland it debuted at number 3 and charted within the top ten of 9 other countries in Europe.
The single was produced by Steve Mac, the award-winning British musician, songwriter and record producer. He has worked with many artists including Shakira, One Direction, The Wanted, Westlife, Susan Boyle, Il Divo, JLS, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, The Saturdays and James Blunt.
The accompanying music video was directed by Kevin Godley, the English musician and music video director. He is best known as the drummer of the art rock band 10cc. Kevin has directed videos for The Corrs, U2, Gabrielle, Alabama 3, Rod Stewart, Phil Collins and Sting.
The video features Ronan sitting on a bed staring at the woman sleeping and scenes of him falling onto a road in the path of a moving car.
” If Tomorrow Never Comes ” was a commercial success for Ronan. In the United Kingdom the song entered the UK chart on the 18th of May 2002 and peaked at Number One. It spent 6 weeks in the top ten and a total of 20 weeks on the UK chart.
The song also made the Top 10 in Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France and Australia, it was officially declared the second highest-selling single of 2002.
