” I’m Gonna Give My Heart ” is by the London Boys, who were a German-based English dance-pop duo.
Made up of Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller, they enjoyed chart success from the mid to late 1980s.
They are best known for their hit singles ” Requiem ” and ” London Nights “, which reached numbers four and two respectively.
Although based in Germany, the duo actually met while studying in Greenwich, London, England.
Edem Ephraim was born in London on the 1st of July 1959 and Dennis Fuller on the 19th of June in Jamaica.
On the 21st of January 1996, tragedy struck. Edem Ephraim, his wife and Dennis Fuller were killed in a car accident. On their way to a skiing holiday, the three were hit head-on by a drunk driver in the Eastern Alps, Austria.
” I’m Gonna Give My Heart ” was released in 1986 under the record label TELDEC, now part of the Warner Music Group.
The song was written and produced by Ralf René Maué, the German musician, songwriter and producer.
He released the single ” The Emperor of China ” in 1983 and worked extensively with the London Boys from 1989 to 1995 as both a songwriter and producer. He also produced for Sinita, who had a UK number two hit with ” So Macho “.
” I’m Gonna Give My Heart ” features on the London Boys debut album, The Twelve Commandments of Dance.
The album, which featured twelve tracks, was released in 1989. It has been certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) for UK sales of 300,000 copies.
It entered the UK Albums Chart on the 29th of July 1989 and peaked at number two. The Twelve Commandments of Dance album spent seven weeks in the Top Ten and twenty-nine weeks in the Top 100.
Unlike previous singles, ” I’m Gonna Give My Heart ” failed to chart.
