Description: ” I’m gonna make you mine ” is by Lou Christie ( Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco ), the American singer-songwriter.
The song was written by Tony Romeo, who wrote the number one hit ” I Think I Love You ” by The Partridge Family.
The song was released in 1969 by record label Buddah Records who are known for outputting Bubblegum pop music.
The production and arrangement for ” I’m gonna make you mine ” was by Mike Duckman and Stan Vincent, the latter assisted with the production of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s 1980 ” Double Fantasy ” Album.
The 1960’s teen idol with the falsetto voice had previous success with his Million selling debut single “The Gypsy cried ” in 1963. Due to US Military draft his fledgling career was cut short and chart success was put on hold.
Lou returned back to his music career and recorded the single ” Lightnin’ strikes in 1966 which brought him back to the public attention.
With another hit single that followed Lou released ” I’m gonna make you mine ” which was to become his last top ten hit single.
Backing vocals for the song were supplied by singer Linda Scott ( Linda Joy Sampson ), who in 1961 released ” I’ve told every little star ” which was a Million selling single.
” I’m gonna make you mine ” was a commercial success for Lou, in the United States the song reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, the song spent 12 weeks on the chart there.
outside of the United States, the song was a hit in Canada, there the song reached number 5 on the RPM 100 Chart.
Europe also proved to be successful for Lou, in Germany the song reached a peak of 29 and spent one week on the chart and The Netherlands Lou scored a top 20 hit with a peak position of number 14 and stayed on the Dutch chart for 4 weeks.
In the United kingdom, ” I’m gonna make you mine ” entered the UK chart and reached number 2, the song stayed in the top ten for 5 weeks and spent a total of 17 weeks on the chart.
Not only had Lou seen his last top ten hit record, Linda Scott quit show business for good to study theology after the release of ” I’m gonna make you mine “.
