” Love Made Me Do It ” is by Cheryl, the English singer-songwriter and TV personality. She began her career as a member of girl group Girls Aloud, who had four Number One singles and two chart-topping albums in the United Kingdom.
The single, her first in four years, was released on the 9th of November 2018 under the record label 3 Beat Records, a British independent record label, based in Liverpool, England. ” Love Made Me Do It ” was written by Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Natasha Bedingfield, The Invisible Men, Dylan Cooper and Miranda Cooper.
Production for the single was by Dylan Cooper and The Invisible Men, the Grammy-nominated songwriting and music production team made up of Jason Pebworth, George Astasio and Jon Shave. They have worked with a variety of recording artists including Sigala, Lil Peep, Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha and Zayn, the former One Direction member.
Lyrically, the song is about relationships of Cheryl’s that have failed and the ease of which she falls in love. Cheryl told MTVUK ” It’s something that anyone who’s been in love will be able to relate to in some way or another, ” adding that ” It’s catchy and it’s fun. It’s not about one specific person or relationship, it’s more about me being the lover of love that I am. I just love love! ”
The accompanying music video was uploaded to Cheryl’s official YouTube channel on the 9th of November 2018. It was directed by Sophie Muller, the English music video director. She has worked with some of the most successful recording artists including Beyoncé, Coldplay, No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, The Killers, Radiohead, Annie Lennox, Björk, Leona Lewis and Pink.
” Love Made Me Do It ” became a successful release for Cheryl. In the United Kingdom, the single entered the UK Singles Chart on the 9th of November and peaked at number nineteen. To date, it has spent one week in the Top Twenty and one week in the Top 100. In Scotland, the single peaked at number two and reached number thirty-two in Ireland.
