” Never Too Late ” was released on the 23rd of October 1989 by record label PWL ( Now operates the label EBUL ) and taken as the third single from Kylie’s second album, Enjoy Yourself. The album was released by record label PWL on the 9th of October 1989. In the United States, Enjoy Yourself was released in 1990 by Geffen Records and was to be Kylie’s last album there until 2001’s Fever, her eighth album.
The album was a commercial success, making the Top Ten in Ireland, Greece, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand. Enjoy Yourself made Number One in the United Kingdom, where it also produced two Number One singles. The album was certified 4x Platinum in the UK in January 1990 and had sales of over one million copies within the first ten weeks of its release.
Kylie wanted ” Enjoy Yourself “, the title track from the album, as the third single to be released, she was however overruled by Pete Waterman and ” Never Too Late ” was released instead.
The accompanying music video was directed by Pete Cornish, who has worked with The Human League, Spagna, Kim Wilde, the Damned and Dire Straits. Kylie can be seen in different costumes with her dancers in front of a variety of backdrops. She dresses as a cowgirl, ’70s disco, Chinese dress with fans and as a 1920s flapper, which were women in the 1920s known for their short skirts, bobbed their hair and preference for jazz.
” Never Too Late ” was a commercial success for Kylie. In the United Kingdom, the song entered the UK Singles Chart on the 4th of November 1989 and reached a peak of number four. It spent three weeks in the Top Ten and a total of ten weeks on the UK chart.
The song also charted in Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Ireland, New Zealand and Switzerland.
