The song is the first single from the Album ” Ben Haenow ” released in 2015 by Syco and RCA record labels.
For this track, Ben Haenow teamed up with American singer Kelly Clarkson, the 2002 winner of American Idol, ” Second hand heart ” is a pop rock duet with a subtle Country music feel and takes the singer in a different direction to the music he was performing before.
Ben invited Kelly Clarkson to join him on one of the Album’s tracks, Ben later said ” The idea of a feature wasn’t on the cards at first. But when I heard the vocals on it I was blown away as it gave the song a whole new dimension “.
Kelly heard the track and fell in love with ” Second hand heart ” after listening to it for the first time, she commented ” Lyrically and musically, it is right up my alley “.
The song was originally intended as a solo for Ben, however the head of Sony Music UK suggested that the song should be released as a duet with Kelly Clarkson.
The video that accompanies ” Second hand heart ” was filmed in Nashville, Tennessee in the United States and had the first showing on VEVO on the 20th of October 1025.
The song was to secure a hit for Ben in Scotland, there the song reached number 4, elsewhere ” Second hand heart ” didn’t do quite so well where it was released.
In The Netherlands the song reached a peak of number 44 and reached number 20 on the Euro Digital Songs Chart published by Billboard.
In the United Kingdom, ” Second hand heart ” entered the UK chart and reached number 21, the song spent 5 weeks in the top 40 and a total of 7 weeks on the chart.
