The song was taken as the second single from his fourth album, Purpose which was released by the record labels Def Jam Recordings and School Boy Records in November 2015.

” Sorry ” was to be another commercial success for Justin, in the United States, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at number two before reaching Number One. The song was to be his second consecutive new entry into the Top Ten after ” What Do You Mean? ” which entered the chart at the top.
In the United Kingdom, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at number two, just being beaten by ” Hello ” by Adele. It later climbed to take the top spot with combined sales of 104,000 and some 5.35 million streams.
” Sorry ” spent two weeks at Number One and fourteen weeks in the Top Ten, it spent a total of fourteen weeks on the UK chart.
