Stars are blind Paris Hilton
Song Title: Stars are blind
Artist: Paris Hilton
Date of release: June 5, 2006
Description: ” Stars are blind ” is by Paris Hilton ( Paris Whitney Hilton ), the American singer and socialite. The song was written by Fernando Garibay, Sheppard Solomon and Ralph McCarthy, with production by Fernando Garibay and additional production by Sheppard Solomon.
The song was taken from her first 2006 Album simply called ” Paris “, released on the Warner Bros ( Warner Music Group ) record label.
” Stars are blind ” takes the form of a mid-tempo reggae style with fusions of R&B and club. Paris described the song as ” some reggae, some rock, a real mix of club, cool, happy music “.
Music critics liked the debut song from Paris and gave generally positive reviews, ” a breezy track” was the response from AllMusic’s Stephen Thomas Erlewine.
Another critic, Leah Greenblatt from Entertainment Weekly likened it to ” a summery island groove ” and Ernest Baker from Complex thought it was Paris Hilton’s ” greatest contribution to society “.
The record buying public also warmed to the song, ” Stars are blind ” entered the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at number 18 making it the highest debuting song in 2006.
Paris had previously entered the Bubbling Under Billboard Hot 100 Chart at number two, which was the equivalent to a chart place of 102 on the Billboard Top 100.
The song was a hit outside of the United states, Paris enjoyed top tens in Europe including Austria, Denmark, Italy and Germany.
In the United Kingdom, ” Stars are blind ” charted on the 5th of August 2006 and reached number 5, the song spent 2 weeks in the top ten and a total of 10 weeks on the chart.
If the tune sounds familiar, then that could be because of the 1970 song by Lord Creator called ” Kingston Town “. The British reggae group UB40 also had a number 4 UK hit with a cover version in 1989.
In June 2007 Paris was the subject of legal action by Sparta Florida Music Group, the copyright owners of the 1970 original.
They took legal action with a £250,000 writ in the High Court London England, claiming a breach of their copyright.
Some have said that it was UB40 that took legal action, this is actually wrong and the group pointed out on their website they had nothing to do with it.
