Talk to Me Stevie Nicks

” Talk to Me ” is by Stevie Nicks ( Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Nicks ), the Award-winning American singer-songwriter. Stevie is regarded by many to be the often thought of as the Queen of Rock n’ Roll.
She is a member of the band Fleetwood Mac; the British-American rock band was formed in London in 1967 and took their name from two of the band’s members, Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie.
Stevie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 along with Lindsey Buckingham, her boyfriend at the time. In 1981, when still with the band, she began a solo career.
Her first success as a solo artist came with the album, Bella Donna. Her debut reached Number One on the Billboard 200 in the United States and gained Platinum status three months after its release; it has since gone 4x platinum.
” Talk to Me ” was written by Chas Sandford, who co-wrote ” Missing You “, a John Waite song from 1984 that reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
Production for the single was by Jimmy Iovine and Chas Sandford. Jimmy is an American record, film producer and co-founder of Interscope Records and chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M. He teamed up with Dr. Dre in 2006 to found Beats Electronics. The company produced audio products and ran a music streaming service, since defunct. The company was sold in May 2014 to Apple for three billion dollars.
The song was released in October 1985 by record label Modern ( Ace Records UK ) and taken from Stevie’s third solo album, Rock a Little. The album peaked at number twelve on the Billboard 200 Chart and was certified Platinum by The Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over one million units.
” Talk to Me ” was brought to the attention of Stevie by Jimmy Iovine. Stevie is quoted in the liner notes in TimeSpace – The Best of Stevie Nicks ( a 1991 compilation album ) talking about the trouble she had with the song. She said ” This was a hard song to sing, but I had loved Missing You ( co-written by Chas with John Waite ), and I loved the words to Talk To Me. ”
She Added ” It took a long time to finish it though, because I couldn’t quite get the right feeling on it until one night, Jim Keltner came in to do some drum overdubs; and then he stayed to be an audience to push me a little, to make me get a great vocal. So I had someone to sing to, and I got the vocal. I put some tambourine on it, and it was finished forevermore. That was one of my unforgettable moments. ”
The accompanying music video features Stevie performing the song directly to the camera using different settings made to look like a grand house. In one such scene, she can be seen singing in a long white room which resembles an art gallery.
There are three steps in the middle which Stevie, Sharon Celani and Lori Perry (her backing singers ) and two male dancers perform dance steps together in a formation. Her brother, Christopher, can be seen in the video playing the saxophone.
” Talk to Me ” was a commercial success for Stevie. In the United States the song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, it spent eighteen weeks on the chart there in 1986.
In the United Kingdom, it entered the UK Singles Chart on the 22nd of March 1986 and reached number sixty-eight, the single spent three weeks on the UK chart.
