” That’s What I Like ” fuses R&B, hip-hop soul and new jack swing. In a review of the Album, Andrew Unterberger, writing for Billboard, said ” [ the song ] is one of the least obviously past-indebted jams on 24K Magic — unlike much of the album, you might get through the whole track without getting any particular sense of deja vu. But if you’re transported somewhere by it, it’s probably more to the early ’90s than the ’80s — to R&B that had a little bit of a New Jack Swing and hip-hop edge to it, like the horny harmonies and Uptown production of early Jodeci. ”
The accompanying music video, which made its premiere on the 1st of March 2017, was directed by Bruno and Jonathan Lia. Jonathan is one the founders of Good Company, a team of creative producers, directors, editors, artists and technologists. They create what they call ” groundbreaking content and experiences for clients “, who include, along with Bruno, Beyonce, JayZ, Kanye West, Madonna, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Marilyn Manson, Lenny Kravitz and Kylie Minogue.
