” The Miracle of Love ” is by the Eurythmics, who was a Grammy award-winning British pop duo consisting of Annie Lennox and David A Stewart.
To date, the duo has released eight studio albums and thirty-three singles. They have notched up worldwide record sales of over seventy-five million.
Outside of the Eurythmics, Dave Stewart had success as a producer while Annie Lennox released a solo album, Diva, which topped the UK Albums Chart for two weeks in 1992.
The song was released on the 26th of November 1986 under the record label RCA Records, now part of Sony Music Entertainment.
The ballad was written by Annie Lennox and David A Stewart, who also worked as a producer.
The song was taken as the third single from their fifth studio album, Revenge. The album, released on the 30th of June 1986, topped the album charts in New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number three and twelve in the United States.
The Revenge album has been certified 2x Platinum in Canada and the United Kingdom for sales of 200,000 and 600,000, respectively.
” The Miracle of Love ” was not well received at the time of release. In his album review for Rolling Stone magazine, dated the 11th of September 1986, Mark Coleman wrote that the calmness of the song is ” disturbed by flash effects and solos “.
The accompanying music video was directed by Dave A Stewart. It features the duo who appear separately in different rooms surrounded by candles. The video also features historical footage of conflict.
” The Miracle of Love ” became a commercial success for the Eurythmics. The song entered the UK Singles Chart on the 29th of November 1986 and peaked at number twenty-three. It spent seven weeks in the Top Forty and eleven weeks in the Top 100.
The single reached the Top Twenty in Belgium, France, Ireland, Sweden and Poland, where it topped the chart.
