Her biggest solo his single was ” Knock You Down “, released on the 7th of April 2009 the song peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
” The Way I Are ” lyrics are based on role reversal. The typical rap song is turned on its head with Timbaland explaining that he doesn’t have anything of value like a car, house or even a credit card to impress with, in fact he is completely broke. The usual rap song boasts of owning fast cars, money etc.
Keri Hilson plays her part in the role reversal by saying she doesn’t care about the bling and even jokes she can pay Timbaland to strip.
The accompanying music video was directed by Shane C. Drake, the award-winning American music video director. Shane has worked with a variety of artists including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Avril Lavigne and Flo Rida. He won the 2006 MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year for his work on ” I Write Sins Not Tragedies ” by Panic! at the Disco, the American rock band.
The video was shot on the 18th of May 2007 in the city of Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The area has had activity since the Neolithic age and grew during the Industrial Revolution due to the city’s textile industry, which went into decline during the 20th century. Since the 90s it has undergone regeneration and now is home to BBC North and commercial tv Granada Television.
Director Shane C. Drake said of the video ” I like to tell stories with my videos — and Timbaland’s new video is going to be unlike any other. Utilizing the tools of incendiary cinematography and fierce lighting schemes, I plan to sculpt an edgy masterpiece, oozing with style and impact. With each rhythmic pulse and beat we will time crafty edits, sharp as tacks and smooth as steel. This video is going to be an artistic expression of Timbaland’s music. As an added element of force and velocity, we will follow Timbaland as he cruises around the city. From the colors, to the wardrobe — to the edits, we will craft a slick masterpiece that defies genre and truly defines cool & will show off Timbaland in a “super” music video “.
