Together Again Janet Jackson

” Together Again ” is by Janet Jackson ( Janet Damita Jo Jackson ), the American singer-songwriter. The song was written by Janet Jackson, James Harris III, Terry Lewis and René Elizondo, Jr, who at the time was Janet’s husband.
Production for the song was by Janet, James Harris III and Terry Lewis, who is a top songwriting and record producing team.
The song was released in 1997 by record label Virgin Records and taken as the second single from Janet’s sixth album, The Velvet Rope.
Janet originally intended ” Together Again ” to be a ballad. Instead, the song was rearranged and turned into a more uptempo dance and house song.
The inspiration for the song came through Janet’s pain of losing a friend to AIDS and a letter from a fan in England who had lost his father.
Co-writer and producer James Harris III commented that ” it had a deep meaning for her because it was about a friend she lost to AIDS, but as with all her songs, she tries to make them apply in a general sense to anybody. The idea was to make it a joyous song musically”.
” Together Again ” was liked by music critics, in the English newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Neil McCormick commented that the song was ” delivering a diva-ish performance reminiscent of Diana Ross “.
The BBC called the song a ” thumping great hit, an old-fashioned piece of professional dance music, played perfectly “.
Billboard magazine’s Larry Flick was equally impressed calling the song ” a gorgeous disco ode to loved ones lost to AIDS-related illnesses “.
