” Younger Now ” is by Miley Cyrus ( Destiny Hope Cyrus ), the American singer and daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, the American singer, songwriter and actor.
The single was released on the 18th of August 2017 under the record label RCA Records. “Younger Now ” was written by and produced by Miley Cyrus and Oren Yoel.
The American songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, learnt to play the clarinet, baritone sax, piano, saxophone and tenor saxophone at the age of seven and when he was fifteen, he began producing music.
Oren Yoel’s production career started with his local hip hop artists, he also began playing keyboards in various bands.
His first break into the music business came when he co-produced the theme for the American adult animated sitcom, The Boondocks. The sitcom, created by Aaron McGruder and based on his comic strip of the same name, premiered in 2005 and ran for fifty-five episodes, spread over four seasons.
Along with working with Miley Cyrus, Oren Yoel has also worked with American rapper Asher Roth, English singer-songwriter Eliza Doolittle and Tori Kelly, the two-time-Grammy award-winning American singer-songwriter and actress.
” Younger Now “, a mix of country music and pop, is a celebration by the singer as she passes from one phase to another. However, some have interpreted the lyrics as being an anthem for young women to enjoy their youth with all the ups and downs that it brings.
The song was taken as the second single from the album of the same name. The singer’s sixth studio album was released on the 29th of September 2017, receiving generally positive reviews from music critics with Leonie Cooper of British music magazine NME, awarding it four out of a possible five stars.
She gave Miley Cyrus a Positive review and enjoyed the new phase of the singer, she commented that ” Who knows which Miley Cyrus will emerge after the rootsy and real ‘ Younger Now ’, but we recommend enjoying Country Miley for as long as she lasts. ”
The album has performed well on the charts. In the United States, Younger Now reached number five on the 31st of October 2017 and has spent eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
In the United Kingdom, the album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 12th of October 2017 and peaked at number eight. It spent one week in the Top Ten and three weeks in the Top 100.
In Spain, it topped the chart and reached the Top Ten in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Scotland and Slovakia.
The accompanying music video was directed by Miley Cyrus and Diane Martel, the American music video director and choreographer.
During her career, Diane Martel has worked with a variety of recording artists including Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, Charli XCX, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey, for whom she directed the video for Mariah Carey’s global hit and Christmas staple, ” All I Want for Christmas Is You “.
” Younger Now ” became a commercial success for Miley Cyrus. In the United States, the single peaked at number seventy-nine on the 9th of September 2017 and spent one week on the Billboard Top 100. It also reached number thirty-nine on the Billboard Adult Top 40.
In the United Kingdom, the single entered the UK Singles Chart on the 31st of August 2017 and peaked at number fifty-four. It has spent four weeks in the Top 100.
On the RMNZ ( Recorded Music NZ ) Heatseekers Chart in New Zealand, it reached number two.
