” You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul ” is by Modern Talking, the German duo. Modern Talking, often referred to as Germany’s most successful pop duo consisted of Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen.
Thomas Anders ( Bernd Weidung ) is a German singer, composer and record producer. Born on the 1st of March 1963, he was the lead singer Modern Talking between 1983 and 1987 and again in 1998 to 2003.
Thomas hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 for NDR, 11 million viewers who already knew him as a singer watched as he announced the German voting points. On the 19th of May 2016, Thomas released a single called ” Lunatic ” followed by an album, History, which was released on the 27th of May the same year.
Dieter Bohlen, born on the 7th of February 1954, is a German songwriter, singer, musician, producer, entertainer and TV personality.
Under Hansa Records, during the 1990s Dieter became the producer for Bonnie Tyler, the English singer. Three albums were released, Bitterblue, Angel Heart and Silhouette in Red. Bonnie had success with her single ” Bitterblue “, which was written and produced by Dieter.
He has been a judge on all the seasons of the talent show Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar. In 1987, after Modern Talking split for the first time, Dieter formed Blue System which had success throughout Europe. The band were active for ten years. It has been estimated that 160 million units have been sold for which Dieter has been involved in either the writing or producing.
” You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul ” was written and produced by Dieter Bohlen under the name Steve Benson.
The song was released on the 29th of October 1984 by record labels BMG ( Bertelsmann Music Group ) and Hansa Records ( Sony Music Entertainment ), it was taken as the first single from Modern Talking’s debut album, The 1st Album.
The album, released on the 1st of April 1985, contained another international hit single along with this one. The second song, ” You Can Win If You Want “, reached the top of the chart in their native Germany and reached the Top Ten in other European countries. In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number seventy on the UK Singles Chart.
The 1st album reached the top of the chart in Germany on the 27th of May 1985, spending four weeks at the top. It spent eighteen weeks in the Top Ten and was certified Platinum with sales of over 500,000 units in Germany alone.
” You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul ” was a commercial success for Modern Talking. In Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen’s native Germany, the song was a slow starter. It entered the German Singles Chart nearly three months after release.
After another five weeks on the chart there, it finally reached Number One, spending six weeks at the top. The song spent a total of twenty-five weeks on the German chart. It was certified Gold in Germany with sales of over 250,000 units.
In the United Kingdom, ” You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul ” didn’t fare quite so well. The song entered the UK Singles Chart on the 8th of June 1985 and reached a peak of number fifty-six. It spent thirteen weeks on the UK chart.
